Big Guy and I bravely got our annual shots knowing that a day or two of discomfort is certainly better than a long, drawn-out illness. One of the first things I craved, to sooth my aching body, was my favorite treat as a kid.
I know I am dating myself when I state I wanted toast with butter and cinnamon sugar on top. Those of us in the “older” category may remember this breakfast treat with fondness. After all, the staples of bread, sugar, cinnamon, and butter were always found in my parents’ kitchen. I was surprised Big Guy did not go for his childhood treat taught to him by his Aunt Truly, which was her go-to frosting for her peanut butter cake. The recipe was simply an equal mix of peanut butter and syrup. The day is young; I may hear puttering around in the kitchen yet!
