Big Guy and I are always on the lookout for interesting cookbooks. We love to scour bookstores for old ones, but we also like to add new books to our collection.
I flipped through the pages and was instantly inspired to start cooking when I read through my copy of Something from Nothing by @alisonroman. I started marking pages of the recipes I wanted to try immediately. The first recipe I tried was the Golden Mushroom Soup with Orzo and a Pat of Butter. Alison suggested it was a great soup to make ahead of time and I wanted to have an easy supper ready to go in the refrigerator for later in the week. Easy was also the name of the game regarding making the soup. Once you sauteed the mushrooms with garlic, it was a matter of adding turmeric, red pepper flakes, soy sauce, along with beef broth, my choice, and orzo. Once I reheated the soup, Alison suggested the addition of a pat of butter with more soy sauce, salt, and pepper. It was the perfect soup for a Fall Day!
