Big Guy and I have been working on our fall plantings for @carondeletgarden. Our lettuce and spinach are starting to take off although it was touch and go trying to get our seedlings to grow in the last heat wave.
Despite his absolute no earlier in the season, Big Guy gave in, and we planted acorn and butternut squash. Due to our zone change, we have time for our babies to grow and give us a decent harvest later in the Fall. I am already planning to make roasted acorn squash with a sausage filling along with a big pot of butternut apple soup. The recipes are easy and certainly comforting when the cool winds start to blow across the treetops. I will most likely complain about the cooler weather, but thanks to this summer heat bath, I cannot wait!
