I know it is the brunt of summer when I start to look for mango sorbet. It is this time of year I like to make my Manasota Sunsets which is a drink inspired by my visits to Florida. The drink is simply mango sorbet, tequila, orange juice, and grenadine. I usually put the sorbet, tequila, and orange juice together and leave the grenadine to last so the drink transforms into a “sunset.”
The only issue I have had is finding the mango sorbet. One year I was even “forced” to use mango popsicles which turned the wooden stick into a stirrer so not the end of the world. Thanks to inspiration from @cuisinart, I found a recipe for sorbet to use in my ice cream maker. The recipe was sugar, water, salt, and frozen mango. I boiled the sugar and water with the last two ingredients going in last. I next transferred everything to my food processor to blend the mixture down and ran it through a sieve. After a couple of hours to cool the mixture, I was ready for the ice cream maker. Honey, get out the glasses!
