I tried to make white sauce for pasta many times and never really liked the recipe. Then I got lazy and started buying it at the store.
Flash forward to the other day when I assumed I had a white sauce in my pantry. Unfortunately, the cabinet was bare, and I was too tired to make a quick run to the store. What was I going to do since I already planned my entire meal around this sauce? I went to my cookbooks! I found a white sauce recipe that was made with a roux of flour and butter finished off with parmesan cheese and half and half. The sauce came together in less than fifteen minutes and dinner was saved. Guess who will never buy white sauce in a jar again!
