I apologize up front if you are now hearing Etta James sing this iconic song. Of course, it’s a great song so keep on singing while reading this blog.
The reference for the Carondelet Kitchen is our red and yellow peppers are finally coming in from our city garden. Big Guy is feeling good about the crop assuming Bandit the squirrel doesn’t jump from the remaining tomatoes to these gorgeous peppers. Big Guy and I have always preferred these sweeter peppers but didn’t realize until this year how long it takes for them to grow. We planted early so we were really surprised this is the first set of peppers for the season. And the wait time is incredible. Once we got the green peppers it took another 30 days for them to change color. No wonder they cost more at the store! I can’t wait to start using them in my recipes this week. We have another round of marinara coming up to can and I think it is time to do stuffed peppers. Yum!
