Big Guy and I have learned we have to make mistakes in our garden. The first time we planted carrots we tried to place them in a narrow section against our fence and sidewalk. While the space seemed right, we were rewarded with stubby carrots as the depth of our soil inhibited proper growth.
This time we used one of our raised beds following the end of our summer crops. What a difference location can make for these beauties. We were rewarded with a bounty of “carnival” carrots which I cannot wait to use in the Carondelet Kitchen. It is great timing as I feel soups coming up on the meal rotation!
