On a recent visit to Grapevine Wines, we were thrilled to see an old favorite wine, Wine by Joe. It is a lovely Pinot Noir we tried at the old Ernesto’s in Benton Park. I hope I do not make anyone sad, but I deeply miss that intimate and wonderful restaurant.
We grabbed two bottles looking for a special night to enjoy them. As I type that last sentence, I am chuckling because every night is special in the Carondelet Kitchen. Seriously, I did decide to make an homage meal to remember those special nights at Ernesto’s. Big Guy opened the wine as I served a small strawberry salad with strawberry vinaigrette dressing. Did I say thank you enough to my fabulous neighbor for introducing me to this fantastic ingredient! I followed it with cheese tortellini with red onions, red peppers, and sweet snow peas in a nice white sauce. I saved the remaining strawberries for dessert, but I can report it was our breakfast the next day. Truly, a night to raise our glass to memorable meals at Ernesto’s!
