I find it interesting in my retired life that I have started to take notice of the Fall activities not only in my house, but in my neighborhood. The most obvious is Big Guy putting his garden to bed for the winter along with the increase in festivals, fall sports and trivia nights.
As I walk with the Doodle, another sure sign is the squirrels gathering their nuts. It is fun to watch them race from tree to tree all the while hoping Doodle remains indifferent to their activity. It seems the only time she cares about them is when they come into her yard. Look out buster, Doodle on patrol! As you gather your foods for the long winter, remember to keep an eye on the horizon and hope in your heart. While fall brings the gradual decay of our summer flowers, we know after winter will come another Spring!
