There is a saying to never offer to do something once because it will become your job for life. In this case, Big Guy and I are not mad about bringing ham to our holiday meals.
We visited our friends at Vincent’s Market to preorder our Miller Ham. We always ask the butcher to slice and tie up the ham so we can easily reheat it with our special root beer glaze. The basic ingredients are root beer, ketchup, mustard, lemon juice and zest, and brown sugar cooked together until it becomes this beautiful glaze to cover the ham. The Big Guy enjoyed tinkering with this glaze recipe this time…a little extra brown sugar and mustard. The bigger bonus is our kids had room in their oven to make the sides since we bring the ham wrapped hot and ready to serve. It is a win-win for all of us!
