Who doesn’t love a flaky, homemade biscuit hot from the oven?  These homemade biscuits are easy to make, and they are fluffy goodness.  Beautiful crispy outside and light and ridiculously soft in the middle.  You just can’t go wrong!

A few tips along the way:
  1. Measure, measure, measure.
  2. Flour your cutter before cutting.  It always helps.  If you are using a knife, do the same thing!
  3. Always cut straight down.  Don’t saw it or rotate the cutter or knife around.
  4. Cold butter.  I mean seriously cold!  Here in the kitchen, we toss it in the freezer for a while first.
  5. Don’t overdo the mixing!  Nothing makes a tougher biscuit.

So, here’s how it’s done:
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1.5 tbsp Baking Powder
  • .75 tsp Salt (we use finely ground Celtic Sea Salt)
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 stick of Butter (unsalted helps you control your salt input) Cold butter!!!
  • 1 cup Half and Half.  Keep it cold until you need it!

Time to make the biscuits:
  1. Dice up the butter into small cubes.  Keep it cold until needed.
  2. Whisk dry ingredients together.
  3. Time to add the butter.  Here in the kitchen, we just use a couple of forks to cut the butter until the largest pieces are small.  About the size of a pea.
  4. Add your liquids and mix gently.  Don’t over mix!
  5. Shape your biscuit dough into a rectangular shape.  Fold it over, shape it again.  We just use a knife to cut into about 8 biscuits.
  6. Time to bake the biscuits.  Preheat the oven to 450-degrees.  Line your baking sheet with some parchment paper and then bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.  Brush with a couple of tablespoons of melted butter at the end for the perfect touch!
