Big Guy and I have been fascinated with pubs and restaurants with an aviation theme for over twenty years. We used to love going to the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant by the St. Louis Airport, but our favorite was the 44th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Venice, Florida. The best seat in the house was in the pub watching the planes taxi in and out while anticipating the hourly alert to take shelter from the “incoming air raid.” It was fun to take friends there and NOT tell them about the air raid to see the looks on their faces!
Unfortunately, both fun restaurants are long gone, but make way for a new find. We recently stopped at the Flight Deck Pub tucked into the Aviator Hotel in South County. The aviation décor welcomed us into the pub, making both of us giddy with the look and feel of the pub. Ellen greeted us immediately and brought us outstanding drinks and food at a reasonable price. We even got our appetizer free since we signed up for their frequent flyers club. It was a winner and will be part of our happy hour rotation!
