“Food, Glorious Food!” I don’t know why old movies are popping into my head this week, but finally getting out and seeing a buffet line did the trick. I won’t leave you hanging. The song, “Food, Glorious Food,” is from Oliver. The song features the workhouse boys singing and dreaming about delicious food while again being served gruel.
I admit seeing a buffet line again made me grateful to be able to enjoy tasty food at a reasonable cost. The worst part, after coming out of COVID, is I was overwhelmed by my options. I found myself going back to my old habit of surveying the line and coming back to pick out my favorite foods. As I returned to the front of the line, I found myself piling up my plate with many different options. As I ended my return to the buffet, I remembered why I used to keep my visits to a minimum as I spent the rest of the day feeling too full. Typing these words, I am humbled and reminded to count my blessings!
