It seems the great pause is causing a lot of folks to think about pulling out old family recipes. In my case, I have been recreating recipes from my family for years. The holidays tend to get me motivated to pull out my grandma’s box and find another new recipe. I grew up with dump cakes, peach pies, and cool whip desserts. The box never disappoints as it also gives me insight into my family history. I remember when I first inherited the box finding a recipe for cough syrup. In today’s world it seemed ridiculous, but then I had to remember my grandparents were alive BEFORE we had a pharmacy on every corner. It also made me wonder if grandpa asked for it often since the main ingredient was whiskey. I hope you have old family recipes you can pull out and enjoy. It is also a great way to connect to your loved ones who are no longer here.
