Big Guy really has a magic green thumb. Our friends have been complaining about not getting tomatoes and we are complaining about the squirrel stealing from our harvest.
I have been picking San Marzano’s for over a week, but suddenly the plants seemed to explode in size and in the number of tomatoes. My neighbor let her dog out and could see the sea of red from her backdoor. We have been doing small batches of sauce, but this time we want to do it once. I found with the last batch that the San Marzano’s did well being frozen until you are ready to make your sauce. The bonus is once the frozen tomato hits the boiling water the skin peels right off. I figure we have another week before the final tomatoes come in and then it will be time to make a huge pot of marinara!
