Homemade Bolognese Sauce

I can tell I have been out of the kitchen too much in the past few weeks. I declared it was time to get cooking again which led to a trip to the store. I realize this sounds like a simple thing, but as usual, we decided to buy too many ingredients because we wanted to make five different things.

The good news is our ingredients will patiently wait so I can tick them off in order unless we are getting a two for one cooking experience. As I finished sautéing my bacon, onions, and carrots for my meatloaf, I noticed Big Guy was in the kitchen telling me not to wash the pan. He decided he wanted to add ground sirloin and Italian sausage to my pan drippings for cooking so he could then add it to our marinara sauce for a Bolognese sauce.

What a great way to get two meals out of one cooking day as we only have to boil the pasta and reheat the sauce. He is such a genius!
