Big Guy has been reading that turkeys and hams are going to be expensive this year. Not only will the price hit our pocketbook, but you had best buy early as the stock is limited due to avian flu, inflation, and supply chain challenges.
We hit our favorite local purveyor and quickly put in an order for our ham. We are on the list, but we were told the total price will probably be around $65.00, or more, for a twenty-pound ham. It made me think twice, but my family is NOT going to have pizza for Thanksgiving! Just to confirm the stories, we checked out the turkeys as well. What was once .39 cents a pound is now going for $3.00 so be prepared to pay $75.00 for a twenty-five-pound turkey. We opted for a turkey breast and still paid $16.00. Yikes! It seems we are getting the “trick” of Halloween, but it seems to be our new reality. Be prepared and buy early. We need to remember time with our family coming out of COVID will be your “treat” this Thanksgiving.
