If you are a fan of old movies, you may know this ditty from Finian’s Rainbow (1968) starring Fred Astaire and Petula Clark directed by Francis Ford Coppola. “Look, look, look to the rainbow. Follow it over the hill and stream. Look, look, look to the rainbow. Follow the fellow who follows a dream. Follow the fellow, follow the fellow, follow the fellow who follows a dream.”
I apologize now if you have an “ear worm,” but that song pops into my head every time we are graced with a rainbow in Carondelet. I know scientifically a rainbow is a “meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky.” Thank you, Wikipedia, for that definition! For the Big Guy and I, rainbows are a wonder to behold. We get excited and call out to each other to come outside and see this wonder in the sky. It is a great reminder beauty and light will always come and outshine the darkness of storm clouds.
