“Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt our program of dance music to bring you a special bulletin from the Intercontinental Radio News.”
At twenty minutes before eight, central time, Professor Farrell of the Mount Jennings Observatory, Chicago, Illinois, reports seeing several explosions of incandescent gas, occurring at regular intervals on the planet Mars. The spectroscope indicates the gas to be hydrogen and moving towards the earth with enormous velocity.” I realize I can be dramatic, but this is how I felt about seeing the first ants of the season in my kitchen. Big Guy and I have lived in our Carondelet home for over 32 years and have never experienced any issues until last year. Granted, there was a pandemic and now Spire is rattling our windows to upgrade our gas lines, so I guess the little buggers found their way into the house. I guess I am happy to be retired so we had the time to rectify the issue. We had already tuckpointed the outside walls last year, so we focused our attention to the inside of the house. I can’t believe how many tubes of caulk we used to seal up the house along with pest control. So, now we wait to see if our efforts are successful! Here’s hoping I’ll be cooking again soon…once I disinfect the house!
