I truly enjoy the process of cooking a delicious meal. I knew I had tremendous patience after my years of traveling for work. I was never the person running from terminal to terminal to catch a flight at the last second. I was perfectly comfortable slowing down and attempting to enjoy the journey.
My parents knew how to make decent food, but I never remember them enjoying it. My mom would rush through a recipe and make unusual substitutions just to get the meal on the table without too much effort. My dad would take more time especially if mom was on another one of her crazy diets, but again, saw it as a chore. I am amazed I was not influenced by this relationship with food from my parents. I love to crack open a cookbook and dive into the ingredients. I will stand at my stove for hours stirring and fussing with my food all the while blasting my favorite music. I love that cooking has become a passion for me and a little bit of therapy as well. I never have a bad day when Big Guy tells me I just made him the best meal…ever!
