I have been thrilled with the addition of protein to my summer stock of marinara. We decided to use another mix of hamburger and sausage to make our pasta sing again.
The one great thing about living in Saint Louis is the abundance of pasta makers. My poor pasta maker is still sitting on the shelf begging to be used, but I would rather shop and support our local makers. On this occasion, we opted to use @katiespizzaandpasta bucatini which is a thick spaghetti-like pasta with a hole running through the center. It was the perfect pasta to hold up to our meat sauce as I could see the sauce being quickly absorbed into the pasta to make it extra delicious. I do not wish to pat myself on the back, or say it was the perfect meal for the perfect night, but it was terrific to tuck into a big bowl of pasta with focaccia on the side from another favorite maker, @keycakesandco. Saint Louis and its makers rock!
