I truly believe in life long learning, so when it comes to cooking, I know I will be a student until my last breath. I have watched cooking shows, read books, and now I have purchased some webinars to assist me with my basic skills and to learn more about ingredients, especially spices. Nerd alert!
Despite my “lessons,” I am still learning just by picking up a takeout meal. Big Guy and I, when exhausted from a busy day, will pick up a Southwest salad from Chick-Fil-A. We enjoy the flavors and the addition of tortilla strips and pepitas. Pepitas are at the center of my “aha” moment. I wanted to purchase pepitas to add to my butternut squash soup to add interest and crunch to the meal. I ended up with toasted pumpkin seeds. For those of you in the know, they are the SAME THING called by two different names! How appropriate I got schooled by something with two names living in Saint Louis!
