Slim Jims and beef Jerky

Have you walked into a gas station and zeroed in on Slim Jim’s and beef jerky? I tend to grab one when I feel the need for a quick hit of protein without having to make an entire meal. I realize this is probably not the healthiest of options, but it was always a staple in my family when I was a kid.

It was such a habit that once Big Guy and I started traveling together, he insisted I had to eat a Slim Jim at the start of our trip to guarantee a great time. I am sure this is superstition, like lucky socks in athletics, but who am I to argue with his logic? I certainly do not wish to jinx our trip!

We recently ventured to Wally’s in Fenton while out on a day trip and I was in Slim Jim and beef jerky heaven. The store was spotless, the staff friendly, and the snack options were out of this world. I know where we will be stopping every time we head west, to again experience the “home of the great American road trip!”
