We remodeled our kitchen a few years ago and did the unthinkable. While we ran wiring for a microwave, we decided not to buy one. MON DIEU?! I realize many will think this is an impossible appliance to not have in a modern kitchen. In fact, my mom would be horrified as shown in the picture! I probably would have agreed with you years ago until I noticed I was only using it to melt butter. Due to that reflection, the grand experiment was on to see if we really needed one. After all, we could always buy it later if we really needed it. To this day, we are sans microwave. I melt my butter in a small pan and we make our popcorn on the stovetop in an old Paul Revere Cookware pot. Will the madness end? We had a close call last week when we bought a frozen item that only had instructions for microwave cooking. Big Guy grumbled for a few moments and then figured out a work around to make a delicious snack. Was it enough? Sorry, no. We just won’t buy that item again and will continue cooking in our twisted world without a microwave and extra counter space.
