Big Guy and I stopped by @legrandsmarket on the next stop of our deli tour. We have been remiss in getting back to this old favorite.
The business has been family owned and operated since 1987 and you can tell by the friendliness of the team working in every section of the store. Big Guy ordered our sandwiches, the Legend Club, and the Great Bambino, while I wandered over to the meat counter. Now I realize the genius of having the deli section next to the meat section because I could not stop ordering meat for future meals. I had to get the brats after the butcher told me they made them in house. The thick slab bacon was calling my name for a night of breakfast for dinner. Smash burgers will also be on the recipe rotation for this week. I asked about the meat cleavers aligning the back wall of the meat counter and was charmed by the story, especially when the butcher said they were antiques which included donations from past customers. I look forward to returning often not only for sandwiches, but to loading up on steaks and other items to get us through the winter. I bet if I decided to cook a Julia Child recipe that my cut of meat would be perfect!
