I have mentioned my parents loved happy hour. I have not mentioned they would travel with their favorite beverages in a travel case. It was always a riot to see my dad carrying in the suitcases to a hotel along with their alcohol travel case. “Careful with that one, we don’t want to break any bottles!” Big Guy and I would always tell our bonus son, JJ, about this habit of my parents. You can imagine our surprise one Christmas when he gave us our own vintage mid-century alcohol travel case. When my parents became snowbirds to Florida, we would pull out our own case and pack it carefully in the back of the car with our luggage for the road trip. I realize this seems silly in today’s world where most folks would get off the road and just get a drink at a local tavern. However, in the current climate, I think these babies may made a comeback for those who wish to travel and stay socially distanced for their safety. Everything old is new again!
