Big Guy and I have been talking about new adventures we wish to take in our post-Covid world, but past trips always come into the conversation based on the food or drinks we discovered on the road.
One memorable trip we stopped into a Planet Hollywood to see what the fuss was about since they were expanding the brand across the U.S. I know I just dated myself, but I best remember the fancy drink that I ordered based on Bruce Willis and his movie, "Twelve Monkeys." The movie’s premise is James Cole, a prisoner of the state in 2035, can earn parole if he agrees to travel back in time to thwart a plague. Wow, that year does not feel very “out there” anymore! The drink was a mix of gin and Cointreau which I am sure will eradicate any virus, so I guess that is the reason the drink was named after this movie. I came home determined to create my version of this drink which I currently make with half Hayman’s London Dry and half Cointreau. It is the perfect summer drink with the botanicals enhanced in the gin with the orange-flavored liqueur. Cheers to Summer!
